What's new in Flow 4.0

The highlight of this release is Timer Sync, allowing you to seamlessly synchronize your timer and session settings—such as durations, cycles, and auto-start options—across all your Apple devices. It's lightning-fast and requires no account setup.

We've utilized the real-time power of Firebase while letting iCloud handle identification, ensuring a smooth and privacy-first experience. If you're curious about the technical details, check out our previous blog post.

Beyond Timer Sync, we've redesigned key parts of our iOS app to better align with Apple's native design language while preserving Flow's unique touch, continuing the redesign efforts we started on Mac and Vision a few months ago.

Important: Due to a widget refactoring, you'll need to re-add any existing widgets to your lock screen or home screen after updating.

How to use the timer sync

After updating Flow to version 4.0, you'll find a new "Timer Sync" option in the app's settings. Enabling this feature syncs your timer across all devices signed in with the same iCloud account.

To ensure everything works smoothly, update Flow on all your devices to Flow 4.0, enable Timer Sync on each, and confirm you're signed in with the same iCloud account.

Currently, Timer Sync is available on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. With iOS 18 and watchOS 11, the live activity displaying the Flow timer already appears on your Apple Watch. A full Apple Watch integration is planned for a future update.

Your statistics continue to sync automatically and independently of this setting via iCloud.
